Bryce Harper: "That's a clown question, bro"

Oh, Bryce Harper, you scamp you.

I've been critical of the Washington Nationals wunderkind so far, but, lately, he's kinda growing on me.  And if you're already tired of hearing (reading), "that's a clown question, bro"...you'll want to continue your Twitter silence for a little longer.

That said, courtesy of our friends at The Score...here's the quote in all its glory.  And proper context.

Mickey Mantle would've answered that question. Didn't affect his game.

He's LDS (Mormon) any ways--so he wouldn't drink either way.

Do you really think Mantle would have even needed to answer that question if he were playing today? We would have known. Mantle would never have survived in today's world of cell-phone camera's combined with the media not covering up for players like they used to.

It WAS a clown question. Just one of many these days.

Proud to be related to Bryce. And proud of his response. It takes a strong person to stand in front of the world and stay true to his religion. We all know that that reporter knew our standards and was just pushing Bryce to see if he would brake. Another home run for Bryce.

The Big Ragu says, when Mickey played most of the questions were intelligent or baseball related. Not dumb questions like they are now. They ask stupid questions to get the attention we are giving it now. Want smart coverage check out The Big Ragu @ nflprozach.com

"No, but I'm gonna drop a huge deuce and hop in the shower with my personalized luffa after we wrap this up."

Didn't affect Mantle's game? I guess it didn't affect his health either. Good answer Bryce!

Wow - you know - he only - you know - said "you know" - you know just 23 times in a minute and 52 seconds. Definite major league potential, you know. But aside from that, amazing what he's done at age 19.

True Mickey Mantle Story

Mickey arrived at clubhouse before a game once so drunk they left in the clubhouse b/c he was too drunk to stand up and play.

As game went on and went into extrs inningss, they realized they would need him to pitch hit. They showered him u dressed him in uniform and pointed him to home plate, and he proceeded to hit a homer to win the game. After he staggered round bases and came in, they asked: "How did you hit the ball, you were seeing triple images. He said, "Yeah, True I was, but I just hit the ball that was in the middle image."

Not sure what the writer knows about baseball but you'd have to be a real nitpicker to be critical of this guy.

Perhaps these so called "reporters" should do a little research before asking inane questions...then he would have known that Harper's a Morman and doesn't drink...not in our country, not in Canada. The question was disrespectful - not the answer.

Mormons don't drink? Is that the same as how Jews can't get tattoos?
