Youk's Brother Rips Boston

With a standing ovation and a tip of the cap, fan favorite Kevin Youkilis exited the field Sunday for the last time as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

According to numerous reports, the third baseman has been dealt to the Chicago White Sox.  In return for the career .286 hitter, Boston will add righty Zach Stewart and utility player Brent Lillibridge.

And while trading Youkilis had been talked about for a while, all signs seemed to be pointing toward the 33-year-old ending up in Chicago courtesy of his brother Scott hitting the Twitters Sunday afternoon and lashing out at BeanTown.

Yipes.

Anyone who has anything negative to say about Kevin Youkilis knows little about the game of baseball and less about what makes a blue collar player a star. Sure, Youk has been subject to injuries and age causing a decline in his skills, but no one (especially you,Bobby Val) should ever be given consideration to question his tenacity, work ethic, team play, ability in cluch situations and a true example of what a player should be. He earned respect for his dedication and desire, and always did what was asked. For those of you who don't appreciate what he has meant to the Red Sox fans, just listen to the chants of "Youk" resounding off the Fenway walls today (yes, I was in attendance) after he once again sacrificed his body defensively to keep the opposition at bay, for the team that had already indicated he was no longer in their plans. While it was probably a necessary trade for the team and him, let it never be said he didn't deserve the adoration showered upon him for his years of service. He will forever be remembered here as the one and only "Youuuukkk"...and I, for one, wish to thank him for what he has represented and contributed to bring us two world series teams. Good luck, Youk, most of us love youuuuuuuuu......k!!!!

I'm a Yankee fan, but respect what "YouKillUs" has meant to the Saux. He was a very good player and always gave it his all. There should be more players like him. Here's hoping he turns it around in Chicago.

Youk is the "REAL THING"!!! You go, Youk!

While I'm sad to see Kevin go to Chicago, I am more saddened by his performance leading up to this event. It was disheartening to see him swinging at pitches in the dirt and otherwise out of the strike zone and then turn on umpires for calling strikes strikes on him. All he had to do is outplay Middlebrooks and he'd have his job. He couldn't bring himself to do that. He has only demonstrated that how sour he has become at being outplayed. It won't be hard for him to shine in Chicago as they had nothing at third base until today. I hope that he can restore his play to something close to what we have enjoyed in Boston until this year.

Anyway to tell Youk's brother to go f himself?

As a long time Red Sox fan, I refuse to watch this season. The team has fallen apart. Bad picks, bad management, and too little leadership. Youk was a great player for the Sox, but time has been a killer. But the bs in the club house and the management is even worse. Not buying MLB TV anymore until the Sox get their crap together!

W-SOX WORLD CHAMPS 2013

Youk from Red Sox fan of over 50 years you will always have a special place in our hearts. You always played with heart, passion, love for the game and the fans. It i irrelevant where you are in your career we are just grateful to have had you wearing a Red Sox uniform and being a core leader on this team for so many years. Thanks for all you gave and thanks for making us champions again. I went to a spring training game in Fort Myers this year and there is nothing like hearing the chant "Youk". Ask your brother to just leave it alone and be like you have always been, on the high ground. We wish you the best wherever you are but you will always be a Red Sox in a true fans heart. Thank you!@!!!

who gives a rat's ass what Youk's brother thinks or says?!?Seriously??? That's how far this story had to stretch to find anyone who cares enough to object....they had to go find his brother.

Kevin did what he did when he did it in Boston ...We'll miss him , but we'll only miss him .225 percent of the time .
What we won't miss is Youk throwing his helmet after a strike out , arguing balls and strikes with umpires , and fueding with the Sox management , and the Boston media
Nobody misses a crybaby and that trait seems to run in the Youkilis family . Sour grapes Scotty-doo ?

The Red Sox should have traded Valentine, of course the would not have gotten anything in return and would of had to pay big time.
I hope his return to Fenway is Great

One of the last temaining BoSox dirt dogs is off to the white sox. Youk was a fan favorite and if you think the last standing O was anything wait till he's back in a few weeks with a white sox uniform. Come to think of it, I hope he goes 0-4 unless we are way ahead but I'd like to see him drill the green monster as an exlamation point. It's business but Youk will always be a fan favorite in BeanTown.

even #27 left boston. carlton fisk said goodbye to boston for the same white sox. kevin was a clutch player but at times one must leave the cith where they played fo a long time.

Good Luck Kevin,
Now Scott shut the hell up.

The guy had limited skill in every facet of his life. He will fade quitely in Chicago along with the mob..

in baseball it`s what have you done for me lately. Youk had his time in Boston but he is no longer as valuable to them as Middlebrooks. When you leave , you should leave with class. Youk should know that, and should tell his brother to clam up.Youk can restart his career in Chicago and should play ball and shut up. He plays better than he talks.

i live in cape coral fl, literally a 15 min drive to the redsox spring training facility. yes i do attend the games and i can tell you first hand from watchin Youk play that he's lost his touch...the guys gettin old and as you age performance drops...and the younger guys are movin in. and for everyone to be in shock over the trade c'mon lets be real here trades happen all the time it shouldn't come as a surprize. and Bobby v he man not be the best manager but his best interest is in the team's performance not 1 player.

Red Sox fans still have blinders on learn what baseball is about money doesnt win games team work does Boston fans have no clue what team work is

I think Youk played with heart and soul, but I can't forget his arrogance when dealing with team mates who were injured (i.e., Ellsbury). I wish Youk the best, but I'm okay with him going. Bring it on Middlebrooks--that kid reminds me of the way Ellsbury burst on the Red Sox scene and took Coco Crisp's job. Sometimes change is needed to shake up the team...next to go should be Valentine!!

great to see brothers sticking up for each other. nothing wrong with trading it's done all the time. nobody knows for sure how this trade works out until it is played out.

as a New Englander who lived 2007-2010 in Cincinnati, I find it amusing seeing Scott Youkilis bash Boston, and its pizza.

Cincinnati is a hellhole of despair, and in 3 years I never found a single decent pizza joint.

Youk: it's sad to see yet another casualty of the changing of the guard here in Boston. You are respected and admired for your guts and hard work - and your hard head, too. We're still shaking our heads over the Bobby V business in general (including any negative inferences about your work ethic, which is utterly ridiculous). Please know that while some people don't get it, most of us do. You will always be greeted here like the classy and hardworking guy you are. Best of luck in Chicago, and I hope you can remember us as fondly as we will you.

Anonymous said...

Youk was never the same after Rick Porcello kicked his ass.

I hate to see Youk go. Loved his heart and work ethic. I think it will affect Pedroia. Baseball is a business. Men get old, and loose a bit of their swing. The years take a toll. I remember when the Sox got rid of Bill Buckner. My son, who was 10 or 12 cried. Ah the life of being a Sawk fan.

Anonymous said...

you know what youk.what go's around comes around and your turn to go so good bye good luck and try not to make a mess out of their club house

Anonymous said...

Good Luck Youk. Unfortunately your brother is a tool.

Anonymous said...

I see whining runs in the family. I am so glad the Sox got rid of him. He is the biggest crybaby in baseball, not to mention an arrogant a**hole.

Another Yankee fan, who has always admired and respected Youk's gritty, hell-bent play, despite the many times its hurt my Yankees. He and Dustin are Red Sox's Derek Jeter. He's always been team-first, as exhibited by his volunteering to change positions several times. Valentine's early season criticisms of Youk, even if warranted, should NEVER have been aired publicly. But even when he managed the Mets, it was always all about Bobby and that doesn't appear to have changed. All the best to you Youk, except of course, when you're playing Derek and company!

Anonymous said...

BOBBY V must go he has done nothing for the sox's as he done nothing for the mets, so let all get it started for Bobby MUST GO.

Anonymous said...

But can he pitch? The Sox are so thin in pitching it's embarassing.
Yuke may be past his prime, but can still contribute. The Sox have to be the worst fist place team in MLB!!!

Youk helped us to two world championships. However, Bosox got pretty much nothing in return. What a joke.

Scott youre a moron unlike your brother who has class. Good Luck Youk and Thank you for everything

He was raunchy, unprofessional, foul mouthed gangster, bum with mediocre skills in Boston, and thats exactly what he'll continue to be in Chicago only with worse skills. Shoulda been traded a long time ago.

Yankee fan here also a fan that respects players that know how to play the game, play it hard and play it fair. Youk as a fan I am glad you are still in the game. You always brought your "lunch pail" to work and did what needed to be done to help your team. You should be pround of your Boston years. I place you in the same breath as Dewey, Yaz, Carlton, Fred and Jimbo. Good luck in CHI town - don't look back!

Anonymous said...

Boggs, Clemens, Nomar, Manny, Damon, Youk...most Red Sox stars don't retire with the team. It's the way they do business. Yankees retire as Yankees...Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Jeter. It's the way the Yankees maintain and add to their tradition. Who's the next to uncerimoniously leave Boston, Pedroia?

Are you hesitant to post my comment? Is it too harsh? Why hasn't it posted yet?

Youks brother seems like a real sis. Why not trade him now when you can actually get something for him? As a Bosox fan I found him to be very undependable and an instigator. The only one with sour grapes is youks brother who obviously knows nothing about baseball. He couldnt carry Bobby V's jock strap.

Anonymous said...

riddance youk. Take your whinny bro with you

Anonymous said...

Bad way to treat him but what do you expect from Boston THEY SUCK and deserve the WORST manager in baseball

Not only has the RedSox made a terrible error in judgement letting Youklis go, they really SCREWED up when they hired Bobby Valentine--what a joke!!!!!

i'm a yankee fan and hated to see youk at bat.he was a great opponent and i wish him luck.
