Tony Gwynn is in Tax Trouble...Padres Sale in Jeopardy?

It appears as though Tony Gwynn's attempt to buy the San Diego Padres might have hit a snag.  Or, more specifically, more than 400,000 of them.

You see, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres legend owes the government more than $400,000 in upaid taxes.  But, if you listen to Gwynn's attorney Mitch Dubick...his client’s tax issues wouldn't affect the planned purchase of the Padres.

“Gwynn is working to pay down the owed taxes in installments,” said Dubick, who refused to reveal the remaining balance, but acknowledged the Hall of Fame did not pay taxes in 2003, 2007 and 2009.

And, here, I get nervous when I'm a week behind on my electric bill.

Gwynn is currently the head baseball coach at San Diego State making roughly $115,000 a year.  He also earns some extra dough through speaking engagements, his former team, sponsorship deals and TV appearances.
