The Remaining Marlins Are Confused

Last year at this time, the Miami Marlins had a new stadium, a new skipper and with the addition of some high priced free agents...a new lease on life.

This off season...well, not so much.

After seemingly trading away most of their biggest names, it's almost as if the team is trying to take a Mulligan on the 2012 season. And, naturally, those left behind took to Twitter to voice their concerns.

Slugger Giancarlo Stanton was upset.

Pitcher Ricky Nolasco was bewildered. 

And, the always outspoken Logan Morrison, well, after his bath...dude was worried that the team unloading Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle and others to the Toronto Blue Jays might take away from him being named on some fictional "Players You'd Most Like to Party With" list.

I guess we all grieve differently, but it makes sense.

Cody Ross Caught LoMo-ing

Remember a couple of months ago when Logan Morrison was trying to get everyone on the LoMo-ing bandwagon?

Sure you do.

Well, here we are in the first week of the new baseball season and Boston Red Sox outfielder Cody Ross has taken to emulating his former Miami Marlins teammate.  On the basepaths.

Alright, alright...so it was probably just Ross relaxing at third, but, still.  Pretty funny.

Introducing...LoMo-ing

In case you were tired of planking and Tebowing...Miami Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison has got the latest meme for you.

Breaking News: Talked to my boy Pujols, he said he wont be playing with the Birds anymore...

Begin social media shitstorm.

Within minutes, the RTs and messages to the self-proclaimed "Twittaholic" numbered in the hundreds.

Sadly, it only took 12 minutes for "LoMo" to remove the wool from in front of his followers' eyes.

Should've been more clear, my buddy Renee Pujols' landlord is making him get rid of his beloved pet cockatoos...

He should have waited longer.  But...fun was had.  Fools were made.

I'm not sure what's funnier though.  The fact that Morrison pulled one over on Twitter or that people bought into it.

Hook.  Line.  Sinker.

And 'Twitter' Was His Name-O?

When the Florida Marlins named octogenarian Jack McKeon their new, old manager earlier this week, the “Trader Jack is so old” floodgates were opened wide.

Hell, I even got in the act and broke out my “inner Foxworthy".

As far as self-proclaimed “Twittaholic” Logan Morrison…one had to wonder how long it would take for him to get into the act.

Two days.

Here’s what the Marlins leftfielder tweeted Tuesday night:

McKeon asked me what I had going on tonite. Told him I was going home 2 play w/ Twitter. He replied "oh, what kind of dog is it?"

The best part about LoMo’s tweet…there is no doubt in my mind that it is completely true and, more than likely, a preview of what’s to come from the 23-year-old big leaguer.

Logan Morrison's Cast is on eBay

I'm not a big eBay guy.

Honestly, the most excited I've gotten about buying other people's trash was when I found (and bought!) that Rockwell LP for sale a few years ago or last year when Corey Haim's family decided to sell his junk to pay for his funeral.

But then, Florida Marlins leftfielder Logan Morrison went and did this.

Now, if you were too lazy to click on the link above, Morrison is selling his recently removed cast via the online auction site.  And here's part of what the official listing says!

Cast was worn by Logan Morrison, starting left fielder for the Florida Marlins, after injuring his foot last week. Item was signed by 24 members of the 2011 Florida Marlins Roster (not including Hanley Ramirez #2) and was "MLB Authenticated" at the time of signing.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Lung Association.

Why the American Lung Association?  Simple.  Morrison's father died from lung cancer this past December and what a creative way to help raise money for a great organization.

Now...more about that cast itself.

The 23-year-old is suffering from a Lisfranc strain (strained left arch) and was put on the disabled list April 21. Meaning...the earliest he could be activated would be May 5.  But, given the initial estimate on Morrison's injury was that he could be out up to a month...returning by Mother's Day might be a little optimistic.

"There are also hurdles I have to get over," Morrison told Marlins.com. "The doctor said, 'Go as far as the pain will let you go. If it hurts, shut it down.'"

Twitter Tuesday: Logan Morrison

With a third inning single Monday against the Cardinals, Florida Marlins rookie Logan Morrison has reached base in 39 consecutive games...the second longest streak in franchise history.

The team record of reaching base safely in 47 consecutive games was established by Luis Castillo in 2002.

Another record that the 23 year-old has to be closing in on is the "most tweets in a day" given dude knocked out 145 tweets since Friday morning.

That's close to 40 a day, people!

All that aside, one of my favorite new big leaguers on Twitter is Morrison given the fact that he is trying to have a personal connection with each of his 7500-plus followers.

It's rare that you'll find anyone, much less a professional baseball player, that will respond to your thoughts and well wishes.

So do yourself a favor, give @LoMoMarlins a follow and who knows...he might just drop you a line.
