The former catcher was arrested and charged with a DUI on Monday night in Illinois after driving his truck into a cornfield. New Lenox police say officers found Fisk asleep behind the wheel of his truck and an open liquor bottle on the floor.
"Around 7:20 (Monday) night, we received a couple of calls about a vehicle in a field," Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz said. "When officers went over there, they found Mr. Fisk unconscious behind the wheel."
Fisk was placed under arrest on the scene on suspicion of DUI and taken to a nearby hospital for a check-up and was released from custody after posting bail.
The Thirty Mile Zone reported that he refused a blood alcohol test. His car was impounded.
Fisk played 11 seasons with the Red Sox and 13 with the Chicago White Sox and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. He has an unlisted number in New Lenox and couldn't be reached for comment.
The 64-year-old Fisk is scheduled to appear in the Will County Courthouse on November 29.

Wow, if somebody told me that picture is Carlton Fisk, I would have said they had one too many. Really hate to see this kind of story. I hope he just made a rare mistake, or if not, gets the help he needs real soon.

Probably couldn't get over losing to the Yanks all those years. He wound up where he belongs, and it ain't the Hall of Fame!

He was out in the corn field not a highway or road. We've all made mistakes and if this is the first time for Carlton then that must mean he's human. Of course the media just jumps on this and flashes the mug shot all over the place. All I can say is I hope the people who enjoy kicking someone when they're down have the same happen to them when they make a bad choice.
Not everyone who gets drunk a couple of times in their life "needs help." This guy was a solid citizen for 64 years. He made a single mistake, and it should be viewed as such, and nothing more. Plead guilty Pudge, take your medicine, and lets all move on.

at least it was a cornfield and nobody got hurt , where is the problem the judge is going to fine him during the day and then go home and drink themselves. what a joke.
Wow, 37 years to the date of his famous homerun he is busted for DUI, at least he did not blow. I had to read the article to see who the Hall of Famer was cuz I did not recognize him.

Fisk was my hero growing up as a kid in Boston. I was there that night in October when he blasted that Homerun off the foul pole.
After the game manager Johnson gave me the line up from the dugout from the greatest game ever played. No matter what, they can't take that away from Fisk. He is imortalized in MLB history with the images of him willing the ball to stay fair. Something I didn't see til later as I was watching the ball sitting in Box seats down the left field line.
He was so upset at running off the road that he needed to take a few drinks to steady his nerves

I have a problem with anyone who is drunk with an open container in their vehicle. He could kill an innocent bystander and God help him if that bystander was one of my family.
